Almost ready to go! This year, Jean Condon headed up the group working on the
Virginia Tech Bow Tie Quilt. Many generous hands worked on the pieces to
create this handsome quilt, Kim Ashley graciously quilted it, and now it is set to be bound.
Here's a little more about the special meaning behind this project:
The project funds a Virginia Tech scholarship in honor of Clay Copeland
from Abingdon, Virginia. This VT student died unexpectedly a few years ago.
His mom started The Bow Tie Classic to raise money for VT scholarships
for incoming students…a very worthy cause! She organizes a huge event called
the “Bow Tie Classic” because her son loved bow ties. It is a weekend event
with an award winning golf tournament and banquet. A highlight is a silent auction
with really huge prizes, like Race tickets, football tickets, all kinds of VT things,
and…of course, a bow tie quilt!
